The school had left over baby food glass jars. Kind donations from the moms at the Montessori. We recycle whatever goods we can get our hands on. A good lesson for our children on reducing waste, reusing and recycling everything possible.
The teachers and I came up with an impromptu idea of sending a posy vase home with the children for Mothers Day. The children got a quick lesson on flower arranging, with the blooms ranging from Roses, Pentas, to Bleeding Hearts from the Montessori garden.
This precocious, young girl, in the picture above, thanked me profusely for each and every flower. She knew the flowers by name and was happy that she could make her mommy feel special with the colorful blooms. She was particularly excited about the chrysalis attached to a leaf. “My mommy loves Monarch butterflies,” said my little Victoria with so much love, appreciation and gratitude. “Thank you Ms. Rohini”!
Children are like little sponges. They sometimes may surprise you with how thoughtful and knowledgeable they are about this wondrous and beautiful world with all its plentiful gifts.
Happy Mother’s Day to all your wonderful moms out there!
