The ability to treat a customer as a member of the family, as someone special and valued is key to creating a lifer.  Lifers pay more, are less price sensitive, cost very little to manage, champion your cause and spread favorable word of mouth.

The ability to connect at the human level — a smile, calling them by name, and making them feel special — is far more important than focusing on the dollar signs you might see when a customer walks in the door.
