Meet Mr. Brian Metz, VP for Business Development at Agile Thought, a custom software company in the Tampa Bay area. Brian serves on the Committee of Marketing Experts for the Marketing Department, at The University of Tampa.
Over lunch, we discussed skills that this distinguished committee looks for when they hire new talent. Here is an impressive, and “on the money,” list proposed by Brian — Today’s knowledge worker should have the following skill set:
1) Strong communication skills.
2) Confident, but humble.
3) Demonstrates passion, motivation, energy, and drive.
4) A visible interest in the job.
5) Intelligent with good problem solving skills
6) Teachable and receptive to change.
7) Tech savvy
8) Organized with attention to detail.
It is worth noting that the softer skills that symbolize emotional intelligence are the ones that are highly valued. Amazing how much I learn when I step outside the box, and reach out for alternative perspectives. Thanks Brian!
