“To care for those who took care of us is the highest honor.” Tia Walker aptly writes.
Yes, life is about getting joy while caring for our beloved parents. It always helps when your spouse supports you and takes care of your parents as his very own. I am married to a wonderful man, who spares no expenses for their care.
This week I am headed on a long plane ride to check on my parents who live in a small town in India. My mom is recovering from a major illness and life will never be the same for her. My dad is 91 yrs old and his requests from my trip are simple, “bring me back a Parker pen so I can write to you.” As I embark on this long journey, I am excited and I know as soon as the plane lands on the Indian soil, I am going to cry.
My suitcase is bursting at its seams with goodies for my parents, and my family. Mom and Dad are like children. Both want lots of Halloween candy and will complain about each other when I get there. Music to my ears.
Our parents are the reason that our childhood is still with us.
I love you Mom and Dad. I can’t wait to hug you.
