Hype in American Media

crowd

What’s the flavor of the week when it comes to sensational news in the media? It could be pop diva (prancing in her underwear in front of millions), the birth of a prince, or a ruthless dictator torturing his own people.  Media feed like piranha to get the scoop.  A week or two later it’s a new snapshot into the craziness in this world.

As consumers, we live vicariously in the feel-good stories and distance ourselves from those that insult are sensibilities. We have strong opinions  on things of importance to us. Either way, we are engaged. This could be a good thing, as I worry about those that are disconnected.

I love the freedom in this country and our ability to communicate freely — that’s what makes America really special. In other countries? You could die for thinking differently.
