It’s that time of year when some students jockey for position for grades. It’s rarely the good ones who work hard all year. It is usually the few who are on the margin to meet GPA requirements, to graduate, or to convince Mom and Dad that the tuition monies were well spent. News flash — teachers rarely “give” grades. They merely assign them based on what students earn.
Unfortunately, over time, a lack of effort becomes a habit. And it carries into their adult years. My advice to students is very simple. “There may be others smarter than you. Just ensure that they can’t outwork you and you will be just fine. It’s just that simple.”
