As a career educator, mom and Montessorian, my goal is to teach the children life’s soft skills.
Empathy for others, kindness, self control, communication, self worth, the ability to share, self advocacy and social skills are more important than reading, writing and math. There will time for those latter skills, later on in life.
The Montessori environment is a prepared environment, and truly a blue print where life skills emerge. In the words of Maria Montessori, “the things he sees are not just remembered; they form a part of his soul”.
