Montessori Goes Pink

Recently my husband came up with this wonderful idea of supporting the cause for breast cancer by going pink at our Montessori schools. As part of our Relay for Life initiative for the American Cancer Society, our goal was two fold: raise money and educate our children.

Over the span of fifteen years, we have raised close to a hundred thousand dollars for people hit by this horrible diseases. The battle to fight cancer is insurmountable and keeps multiplying. It was a difficult topic to explain to the children but education and awareness must start early. Cancer is not the exclusive domain of adults. Too many young people are afflicted by the disease as well.

We had a very successful campaign and, as this picture proves,  all of the children and their families supported our cause. I personally, know so many wonderful women who have lost their battle to this horrible ailment. My dearest being my Geography teacher in High School in India. My Dear Ms. Shirley Higgins — this one is for you.
