I have noticed that the more I plan, the more effective I am. It is a bad idea to run a business on a wing and a prayer. Running a business randomly ensures random results. Ions ago, I started a business on a ‘gut feel.’ Not a good idea.
Now, we plan relentlessly. Kudos to my executive team at the Montessori Schools for juggling the many demands of strategic, tactical and operational issues. And for putting up with me. They really do make me look smart. Consistently.
I learned long ago to surround myself with talented people, and to get out of the way.
