In a moment of quiet solitude, my mind traveled back in time to some sound advice given to me by my Dad. When I would ride the wings of euphoria, or others would applaud me for a job well done, he was the sobering influence that created perspective.
He told me to never ‘fly high’, to never be boastful, to never seek out accolades and to never gloat. His wisdom makes more sense today than ever before. He stressed the importance of humility and being grounded.
As I have gotten older, I have learned to appreciate the fragility of life, and learned that success can be fleeting. Dad was a wise man.He was also my hero.
I miss my Dad for the vacuum he created with his passing and that void is real. His gems of wisdom still surface in my subconscious and create meaning for me even today. One day, I want be just like him.
