The Happy Child

We get the opportunity to work with so many wonderful children. I love each one of them. Each child is unique, with great potential and truly gifted in their own way.

We, teachers, not only play the role of the educators, but we are also their second set of moms. We are always on our tippy toes, worrying about things like: Did they eat their lunch? Are they making friends? Are they hungry? Are they not feeling well?

Our goal is to raise happy, well adjusted children. There is more to the Montessori work cycle, than circle time and the expectations as an accredited school. Are they reading? Are they writing? Are the VPK standards being met and accepted by parents? It more about the process than the product. We are entrusted with a very important job – to raise a well rounded happy child.

Sometimes, it is okay to stop the rigorous work cycle and enjoy the rainbow or research the swallow tail caterpillars in our garden. We must follow the child and tailor our curriculum to create joyful leaning. At the end of the day, the goal is simple: Let us send a happy child home. The art of teaching, is the art of raising happy children.

Happiness is the bridge between the home environment and our school family. It is a joy to see some children waltz into school with a spring in their step and a song in their heart.

Let’s make our children’s world a happier place, and let’s glow in the aura of a happy child.
