We strive for perfection from our children, and very often lose sight of what’s important. There is more to life than grades, tests, and tutoring clubs that only focus on academic abilities.
Our focus should be on the simple joys of life — like watering the garden, horsing around with our friends and the sounds of silly laughter. I learn this from my Montessori children every day.
We tend to choose conformity, label children, and place them in neat little boxes. That is a disservice to all of us. We want our future generations to succeed and think outside the box.
Love, kindness and caring for each other are much needed in today’s cynical world. Emotional intelligence is the need of the day. And there is no box for that.
