Want to feel your age? Come meet some of my students who were born in 1999. They are bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to take the world by storm. They are part of the digital generation and see the world through a very different lens.
They certainly make me feel my age. I have been teaching at UT since 1990 — almost a decade before most of them were born. They work hard, strive to do well, and I can sense their ambition and drive though their actions.
I will never be able to see the world through their lens, nor would they be able to see the world though mine. Maybe there is middle ground where we can learn from each other.
I am blessed to spend my time teaching young people. They really are our future. Time to get to work to enable them to fully develop their potential. As Khalil Gibran eloquently stated: “ The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.”
Except no one brought their name tag to the second class and few contributed to talking about current events. Not a great start, but excited to MKT 450 with you.
