How does one balance the needs of the business against the needs of the individual? How does one maintain the integrity of the process, while showing compassion to those that may be reassigned?
There are no easy answers. Feelings get hurt. People get insecure. That’s par for the course. The livelihood of my people is very important to me. The care of my customers is even more paramount.
The goal is not to assign blame, or to let people go. The trick is to manage existing human capital effectively. That way, we don’t lose our humanity, and never lose sight of the reason we got into business to begin with. Sometimes, no one wins. And that’s okay, as long as we can get the job done.
