AGRILORO

Think of it as liquid gold, and clearly my happy place. On the Swiss Italian border, nestled in the foothills of the Alps is a 55 acre vineyard called AGRILORO. They grow 28 varieties of grapes and sell about 180,000 bottles of wine a year.

We met Jacques, whose father inculcated in him, a love for wine. He and Mathias showed us how wine is made and gave us a personal tour of their facility. They control 100% of the supply chain. That’s a luxury in todays world.

They are passionate about their craft, and focus on quality. Not growth — just quality. What a novel idea, and a sharp departure from our “make more money” culture.

We tasted some of their finest vintage, and learned about the masterful craft of wine making. I am always amazed at the interesting lives of good people.

When passion, love and skills come together, the results are spectacular. I will certainly drink to that.
