There are very few countries in the world where a young person can start with very little and make a life for themselves. This beautiful country holds that magic. Thirty three years ago, I vividly recall arriving in Los Angeles, the Friday before Labor Day, with stars in my eyes, empty pockets, and that dream in my heart.
From my vantage point, the American dream is alive and well. I remember the selfless sacrifice of my parents to put their own needs on the back burner so that I could build my life. Selfless sacrifice is still what makes the heart sing.
I worked hard, put my self through school, landed my dream job at The University of Tampa, and the rest is history. I love this beautiful country and bow my head in gratitude for God’s many blessings.
Success is rarely the result of one persons efforts. There are those who sacrifice, those that mentor, and those that love you and help you keep it real. A touch of karma and a sprinkle of luck make the perfect recipe that allow dreams to come true.
Thank you Lady Liberty. You are marvelous in so many ways.
