Meet Amy Harris. Travel buddy, partner in crime and one of my closest friends. We met at UT more than a decade ago, where she heads up the MBA Program and wears multiple hats.
We were born on different continents about 72 hours apart, in the same year. She often reminds me that I am older. Another common theme? We laugh incessantly when we are together. She is one of the funniest people I have met, and also one the brightest. Amy is a natural — with her humor, her intellect, and her view of the world.
Together, we have travelled to over a dozen countries, usually with students and executives. Somewhere along there way I started calling her Amy Child, because of her cheerful disposition. I have a genuine fondness for her, as she never fails to put a smile in my heart, whenever her thought crosses my mind.
A doting mom, a devoted daughter and now a new bride, Amy has taught me to take life as it comes. To play the cards that have been dealt. And to always make time for the goose (Grey variety).
A wall in my office is crowded by photos of us on our many travels. She never fails to find her favorite picture of us, and frame it for my “wall of shame”. Somehow my sense is that we still have a lot of “world” to explore together.
