An Open Culture

open

When employees are scared to speak up because they worry about losing their jobs, a culture of fear becomes the norm. Being the boss certainly does not make are position, on a contentious issue, the right one. Sometimes it is difficult to separate the personalities from the task at hand, and we let our egos take over the conversation. When emotions and preconceived notions come into play, everyone loses.

Practice an open culture. Check your egos at the door, and focus on excellence. When people within the organization are encouraged to disagree, debate, innovate, argue, butt heads and challenge the status quo — good things happen. How else will we ever get better?
