Places of worship are no longer safe from the hatred of deranged individuals fueled by the bitter rhetoric that is the new norm. Life’s are shattered, and families destroyed. Why can’t people pray in peace, to their own God, in their own religious confines, without their lives being extinguished?
We pause — express our silent heartache, shake our heads in disbelief, and get on with our lives. One of these days, it might be one of us, trying to pick up the pieces of a broken life. These things never hit home, till they happen to us. Let that sink in for a bit.
Most of our political leaders will continue to spew vicious hatred and divide us along religious, racial and ethnic lines. For now, we need to hold our loved ones close, and say a silent prayer for those that perished and for those they left behind. And seek divine intervention that this senseless violence ends.
