We tend to become experts when the game is on the line. While we may not be involved in the inner workings of a masterful game plan, the critic in us rears its ugly head as we solve the problems of the world from the comfort of our ‘La-z-boy.’ It is easy to give advice, at the tail end of a football game — or a business initiative — especially when things don’t go as planned. The unfortunate reality is that the worst critics are, themselves, the least competent.
In the words of Theodore Roosevelt, “It behooves every man (and woman) to remember that the work of the critic is of altogether secondary importance, and that in the end, progress is accomplished by the ‘person’ who does things.”
