Bewildered

Ever had such bad service that you feel bewildered and shake your head in disbelief?

This morning I spent four hours on the phone with Moffitt — yes that “World Class” cancer center— trying to get appointments for my sister.  After the first two hours I was able to get at least two appointments and then I was transferred to another office who, on review, informed me that I had NO appointments at all.

Two additional hours later, I worked through the quagmire of bureaucracy to get my ducks in a row. I couldn’t imagine my poor sister navigating this  maze of incompetence.

While the clinical care at Moffitt is world class, the admin people need to get their act together, as their incompetence is mind boggling. How can there be such a chasm between these two key dimensions of their business? One is so good, and one left me bewildered.

What a travesty to have to deal with such a customer-unfriendly administrative processes at a world-class clinical care and research institution in Tampa. Unfortunately, that has also been my experience with top-notch hospital systems in the Washington, DC area. Thank you for what you do for your dear sister (and my dear friend).
