She sat in the front row during a research class, about a decade ago, barely ever speaking. She never really needed to — her work spoke for itself. Rebecca has been part of my life for a very long time. Married to a professional musician, she loves racing motorcycles. So inconsistent with her quiet personality, and her poised demeanor.
Becka, went on to be my graduate assistant, while finishing her MBA, and has been the President of our consulting company for a very long time. Not sure we would be successful without her. Certainly would not be as much fun.
I have often said that she is among the top 10 students I have ever taught in my life. She always wants to know why she was not in the top 5, or really # 1. That’s Becka.
Becka’s job is to make me look good. She has done that admirably, and with remarkable consistency. The look and feel of this blog, our consulting website, the Montessori social media pages — all her. I would be pretty lost without her touch, and her ability to capture my random ramblings and make it all look amazing. I trained her. She is one of mine. I take a lot of pride in that.
I don’t see her much. We grab lunch every now and then — same restaurant, same salad, same Tiramisu to go. Our personal routine for our time together. Her time is consumed by her work, her family, and her little son Jay who is wicked, yet precious, as they come. He loves his Ms. “Hini” from his time at our Montessori.
Becka and I share a special bond. Not sure how to describe our relationship. Not sure that it is necessary. I am just happy that she is such a critical part of my life.
