Brilliant Marketing, Human Cause

ice

The ice bucket challenge that is going viral on social media is the brain child of Peter Frates, a 29-year-old baseball captain who was recently diagnosed with ALS — commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Building awareness, raising money, and having a little bit of fun, the challenge has captured the imagination of millions.

Drop a bucket of ice water on your head, within 24 hours of being nominated, or donate $100. Sounds like a brilliant plan to fight this disease. Getting in the act? Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Lebron James, to name a few.

My son Rohan, not quite famous yet, was an eager participant. Grandmas’ and Grandpas’ and people of all ages are having fun and building awareness about a disease that causes paralysis and death.

A silly exercise, with a serious motive to raise money to save lives.
Baby steps in the right direction.
