The pre-schoolers and kindergartners at our Montessori school graduated today. The smiling faces of the children and their parents said it all. Every graduation — preschool or College — brings new hope and new challenges. For the young children it represents pageantry and celebration (and YES, lots of cookies). For the older ones it symbolizes the rites of passage, the accomplishment of major milestones, and new beginnings.
Take a moment to think of the thousands of children who never have the privilege to go to school, or overcome odds to just walk to school everyday. While education is certainly a birth right for all children and young people, there are many around the world who never get that chance. As you celebrate the graduation of your loved one, pause and think for just one second, of those who got left behind.
