My heart goes out to the families caught in the flash floods and land slides in Uttarkhand, India. 70,000 people affected, 32,000 stranded, and over 1000 dead. Many are missing and families are grappling with the potential loss of loved ones. The total devastation of one of the holiest sites of the Hindu religion has left the faith of many shaken.
Next time you feel the urge to complain about an unreasonable boss, a failed test, an inconsiderate colleague or a plethora of other things that don’t go your way in daily life, stop and think about those whose lives are shattered by deep loss, serious illness, and broken homes.
Count your blessings — I am certainly doing that today, and I hope to every day.
