It is easy to hide behind keyboards and telephones to give bad news to those that least expect it. True leadership is about stepping up to the plate and having crucial conversations in person – face to face.
In these difficult times, there are a lot of lost jobs, mass layoffs. and a ton of bad news going around. Those in positions of power find it easy to hide and share the news of doom and gloom, without facing those they hurt.
There is something to be said for having the fortitude to look people in the white of their eyes and sharing the news in person. If it’s hard on the messenger, imagine how hard it can be on those at the receiving end….
