I seem to be reminded of the fragility of life, on a pretty regular basis, these days. The carnage in India continues, and it continuously hits closer to home every time I talk to family and friends. This suffering and loss of life has to end soon.
And then news of a young child being diagnosed with cancer. “Why does God do this,” was a fair and inexplicable question. No answers here — just one more instance when so much of what happens, makes no sense.
That’s the thing about curve balls — they come when we least expect them, and most of the time we freeze with no reaction. The biggest difference between baseball and life? In life, the strikes seem to keep coming, and you don’t get second chances.
