I live in an academic environment where I meet smart people everyday. A wonderful occupational hazard. However, it is rare for me to meet people that impress me with their intellect, their personality and their business acumen.
Meet Susan O’Neal, CEO of “Dabbl”, a company that enables people to turn “their spare moments, into gift cards”. I met Susan about 6 years ago when she came to talk to my Research class as a guest speaker. I was immediately struck by her strategic insight into business, and her unique perspective on our world of commerce.
I reconnected with her this past fall term, once again, in a classroom environment. I sat back in quiet admiration and watched her talk. She sat cross legged on the desk, removing all traditional barriers, engaging the students with an authentic style, as she shared her vision about her company.
The students were equally impressed, as I, by the ease with which she spoke about her life and her work. Her talk resonated with the group for weeks, after she left. I find Susan to be professionally very intriguing. Her eyes show a steely determination about her work. Her heart is all in — failure is clearly not an option.
Brilliant. Determined. Passionate. One hundred percent effort, one hundred percent of the time.
It really does not get much better than this. I can sense her rewards are right around the corner.
