These were the comments from my legal counsel — and my gut reaction — as we spoke about my will and my living will. Unpleasant conversations that are necessary in our litigious, regulated, world.
“What happens if you, or your loved one gets deceased tomorrow — how will you distribute your assets?” Ouch. Really? That’s where we are going to take this conversation? Do we really need to talk about this? In such stark terms? My mind was in a spin.
I urge you to have these difficult conversations to protect those that you love. Closing one’s eyes to the harsh realities of our times ultimately hurts those that we have sworn to protect. Who says life is a bed of roses? Time to take off the rose tinted glasses. You will be glad you did.
