Do We Ever Really Know Each Other?

stranger

Why are we usually let down by those that we nurture and help the most? We may offer a comforting shoulder to a friend in need, or open our hearts and wallets, and expect nothing in return. And every now and then, these very people behave in inexplicable ways.

My circle of life, and those in it, is getting smaller by the day. Maybe I am just not smart enough to really understand people. Maybe we never ever really know each other. Maybe that’s why I spend more time with my dogs. They may shed, and they may smell, but their loyalty is refreshing, and their love is genuine.
