Domestic abuse is real, and more prevalent than we are willing to acknowledge or accept. The signs are everywhere, black eyes, broken limbs, bruise marks around the neck. Embarrassed victims will often attribute these to a fall, an accident or some other mishap.
I am angry and I am sad – strong emotions not easy to make sense of. Angry at the cowards who resort to violence on a physically weaker person – just because they can. Sad for the victims who deal with pain and betrayal. Heartbroken at the plight of the children who experience the trauma of seeing their moms beaten up.
Real men don’t strike those weaker than them. Real men nurture and love and protect. For my fellow men – ask yourself, are you a real man?
