Slightly built, soft spoken, and sheer genius bottled in a small frame, her quiet brilliance shone through. She lent us a patient ear, and was probably the most focused listener I have ever met. She was engaged, empathetic, and genuinely interested in our well being.
When was the last time you talked to a medical expert who patiently gave you more than an hour of their time? Ever met people who are so smart that they make you feel inadequate, and downright ordinary? Score a couple for the good Doctor.
She may never see this post, but Dr. Chiu was a breath of fresh air in a field where money and speed take precedence over compassion and care. The funny thing about life, is that when we get carried away with our own smarts, a flash of genius brings us back down to reality, and makes us feel very ordinary.
Thank you Dr. Chiu, for the people you heal, and showing me that patience can truly be a gift we can give to those whose lives we can touch. Time for me to do my part.
