And then there is Angie Sokari Aziz. Mother, wife, and the consummate pro. Angie is a “beast” — loosely defined, it means the ability to do the work of 3 people in any given day — to perfection. In 3 short months, Angie went from parent volunteer to Director. She did two stints with us, between military postings.
I feel our families have grown up together. Little Yasmine who went to our Montessori school at 3, is now off to College.
The wife of a Marine, Angie is currently based in Okinawa Japan, where her husband Sherif, is the commanding officer. Talk about making the ultimate sacrifice of her personal goals and career aspirations, to pursue her love and to raise her family.
Never afraid to tell me when I was wrong, and Rohini’s biggest champion, she played a key role in defining the excellence of our brand. Can’t wait for her to walk in through that door, so that I can hand her the reigns one more time. Time for me to take a step back.
I miss Angie. We connect often from distant lands, but our ties that bind are real and everlasting. Besides, my tequila collection —which she replenished frequently— is dwindling. Not bad for a girl who never touched a drop.
