Can we really walk in other peoples shoes? We can acknowledge, understand, show sympathy and compassion — but we can never deal with other people’s reality.
We can even potentially show glimpses of empathy, but it’s a fleeting emotion and vanishes when we retreat to our private world. The reality of suffering and stress stays with those who live with it every day, and every single moment.
Being empathetic is a noble endeavor. It’s just not sustainable in the real world.
