Experiences Not Things

I spent the last five days in a cozy cottage, in snow covered Beaver Creek, CO, with my beautiful family. We did nothing substantive these past five days except spend quality time with each other.

I basked in the mundane — walking in the snow, exploring little villages, sitting by the fire, playing cards, drinking inordinate amounts of wine, slowing down the pace of life, and spending quality time with the most important people in my life.

I couldn’t help but think that no amount of ‘stuff’ or ‘things’ would have given us the same joy, or created the same memories. I did not even write these past few days, as I allowed myself to put aside  routine and  just do nothing.

I want to do more of this — spend quality time with my family, and create extraordinary experiences for the people I love, not accumulate ‘things’.

Very well expressed, Dr. Heamant! Although I stayed home, I also did the same, and I agree, it is a priceless feeling. Peace and tranquility … Quality relaxation! Cheers!!
