Flexing the Wrong Muscle

What does it say about a fitness facility that charges almost $45 a session for personal training, yet pays the college educated trainers barely $8 a session? Last I checked that was less than 20 percent. The irony? The organization is a nonprofit!

Unfortunately, this is the norm in many companies: exploit your people, keep the money.

There is something fundamentally wrong when an organization gets rich at the expense of the very people who make it successful. The larger philosophical issue deals with encouraging management to shift the paradigm to rewarding those who define business success. At a minimum, we have a moral obligation to be equitable and fair.

Share the workload, share the wealth.

Build trust.

Build loyalty.

And the coffers will overflow.
