As we walked on the beach and I felt the sand between my toes, I couldn’t help but reminisce of my time with my brother in his happy place. I miss him terribly, as certain places and conversations remind me that he is gone forever.
We all grieve differently, but we must pick up the pieces of our broken hearts and patch them together for those that count on us today. Maybe we honor those that have passed by doing more — by making our time on this earth meaningful and as impactful as possible. My brother was a great man, who did many great things. While he is no more, his many contributions live on….
Henry Longfellow said it well —
“Lives of great men all remind us we can make our lives sublime, And departing, leave behind our footprints on the sands of time.” He certainly did that, in more ways than one.
These words deeply resonate with me. It is clear from the heartfelt tribute to your brother that he was selflessly devoted to his family, friends, patients, and community. Those of us who didn’t have the opportunity and the privilege to know Dr. Nirmal Kumar Rustagi can, and will, do more to make a meaningful impact on the world. His memory and spirit are truly indelible.
