Little Vinny came to visit the school today on his way to the Doctor. As you recall, Vinny is the young boy who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, and was our featured guest for the trike-a-thon.
Today, the children and Team Montessori presented Vinny, and his family, with a check for close to $6000 to help with his care and expenses. Dad teared up easily, clearly touched by the kindness of strangers. My heart went out to Vinny’s mom — her life in disarray because of her son’s condition.
There is a lesson here for all of us. Time to count our blessings, as we approach this holiday dedicated to giving thanks, and to expressing our gratitude. It is also time to share our good fortune with others, through small, meaningful gestures.
We must give back, by paying it forward.
