Beyond the turkey, stuffing, football, and family, take a few quiet minutes to reflect on what is really important in your life. Take just a moment to count your numerous blessings.
I am so thankful for my family, my friends, my American dream, and my passion for making a difference in the lives of young people — my students are a critical part of the equation. Most importantly, I am thankful for my health (my numerous aches and pains aside). I am also thankful for my bad golf game and my ugly dogs.
I think we should all spend about 5 minutes a day counting our blessings before we take on the world. It might make all of us happier, kinder, more giving, and less self-absorbed. As we celebrate the advent of the holiday season, take a moment to think of those less fortunate, and, with gentle tokens of appreciation, pay it forward.
