Maybe it is our isolated geographic location or our mind set, it is my sense that a large majority of Americans do not travel extensively, overseas. I envy the Europeans who can be in four different countries in a matter of a few hours. Global exposure creates a global mindset.
As I interviewed executives at Wolford, I was pleasantly surprised at how many of them had worked in multiple countries and the extent to which they claimed it shaped their thinking. As a nation, we need to travel more, think differently, build tolerance for other cultures, learn to accept others for who they are, and be less judgmental.
Maybe a global mindset will make us all better people, and maybe if we learn to respect each other, we might just make our world a safer, happier, more accepting place.
