I am particularly impressed by the best and the brightest, and those that perform at the highest level. Yet, I lean towards hiring for cultural fit, more than skills. Skills one can teach — but we can’t force the fit. Remember the square peg, round hole dilemma?
It’s difficult to build a tribe with skill. A tribe must be inherently built through shared values and a common belief. Ultimately, skills without the fit are an exercise in futility. No culture. No go.
