Angela Duckworth talks about the virtue of “deep and sincere humility”. As I look back at my younger self, arrogance was more the norm. Guilty as charged.
As I acquired wisdom and the years piled up, that arrogance gave way to “bold and brazen confidence.” Somewhere along the way, a touch of humility crept into my repertoire of characteristics. I am certainly better off for it. Self improvement is a journey, not a destination.
Ernest Hemingway said it perfectly, “ there is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
