I Need A Break

I need a little bit of social distancing from my wife. I am surprised she has not killed me yet. I need a wife vacation. Not with her — one without her.

I need a break from loose jammies that have been part of a wash and wear routine. I need a break from my computer, and God knows I need a break from Zoom.

I need a break from the monotony of the four walls that seem to be closing in. I need to get out and drink a few beers with strangers. And hang with my buddies who I may not recognize anymore. I need a break from CNN and Trump and Fauci and Covid-whatever.

I seek normalcy  and sumptuous salads and cold brews in the afternoon. I seek bad air travel and exotic locations. I need a break from the life I live and seek the life I once had. Can’t get there soon enough. Till then, the wine will have to suffice.
