Independence and freedom are not a birthright. There are nations and people around the world, that do know this privilege, and yearn for it.
Part of living in a free country is the joys of secularism, and the beauty of free speech and free thought. Our responsibility is to not only enjoy and cherish this freedom, but allow others to bask in its glow.
Tolerance, empathy, acceptance and inclusion are central to the tenants of this independence and freedom. We must fiercely protect these tenants and celebrate as one people. That is true freedom — in the truest sense of the word.
