Ivory tower research in academe is driven by those who write for academic journals — writings that are filed away in libraries and databases, and become obscure overtime. The tide has changed at smaller, teaching driven, schools that focus on research productivity with an eye towards practitioner application.
That’s one of the things I love about The University of Tampa, a place I have called home for almost 25 years. As I sit and listen to faculty presentations I am impressed by the breath and depth of research. I am particularly impressed by the innovative approaches to research, the number of students that are involved in the research, and the real world impact on business practices. Who says those that teach can’t do? We teach, we do, and practice with purpose.
A refreshing approach to intellectual curiosity.
