Today, the University of Tampa community celebrates an inspirational leader. President Vaughn has been at the helm for 25 years.
His vision and hard work transformed this “party school” with marginal standards, into one of the finest institutions of learning — anywhere in the country.
Always the first guy in the building, always the last guy out, his efforts have transformed this campus with over $500 million in new construction, and a global reputation for academic excellence.
Ron has always been defined by his quiet demeanor, and his hard work. When we were junior faculty we would hide behind pillars, because every time he saw us, he gave us work to do.
Ron has always been an inspirational leader, because he has led by example. He certainly has touched my life in positive ways. He hired me 30 years ago, and helped change the course of my life.
UT has been home to me. And Ron was a major reason why I stayed. We are collectively excited about what the next decade will bring. Till then, we will bask in this celebratory glow.
Way to go Ron. You have been a true inspiration. Today we toast your success and many contributions to this place we all call home.
