Institutional Capital

As I gave Christian (my graduate student) a tour of the Montessori schools, I stopped and introduced him to a number of the teachers. The common question – how long have you worked at the schools? I couldn’t help but marvel that most of my team has been with me for over a decade, and a number of them have been with me even longer. That’s one way to ensure success – hire and keep loyal team members. Collectively, we have harnessed over 150 years of institutional capital.

I take people’s livelihoods very seriously. Loyalty is a two way street, and we must be doing something right that once they come, they stay for a long time. We treat them like family, give them a professional environment to practice their craft, and pay them a fair wage. That’s how one builds wealth; by creating capital that keeps on giving.
