Just Breathe

When you own your breath, nobody can steal your peace.

Why is that as we get caught up with life, we forget to breathe?

There is a documented correlation between breathing with purpose,  and living a long life. No value judgement – just an awareness of the ebb and flow of one’s breath.

And that’s where Yoga comes into play. I have rekindled my practice of Yoga and ‘Pranayama’ — the practice of breathing.

“You seem to be calmer,” a friend remarked. Not sure the signs are outwardly visible,  but the sense of serenity I feel is certainly refreshing. Yoga allows me to pursue the balance between mind and body, something I desperately crave.  And it is a constant reminder of my lack of flexibility.

I find myself taking a few minutes every day, to just breathe. You should try it – slow, deliberate breathing. Just focus on your breath, nothing else.
