We marvel at the athletic prowess of the super human performers during these Olympic Games. We watch in awe at their speed on the field, knifing through the water in the swimming pool, and fifteen year olds flying gracefully through the air with never a worry. We are mesmerized by the global competition that has our hearts in our mouths.
Behind the glitter and the excitement, we miss what goes into building this type of success. We miss the grind that these world class athletes put themselves through to chase their dreams. We miss the 5:00am swims and hours in the pool. We miss the hours in the gym that create chiseled specimens. We miss the daily grind of training for years and years with no end in sight. And no guarantee of standing on the top of the podium, or even competing at the highest level.
We can all learn for them. Few of us, if any, will ever be the athletes we see before us, but we can learn to grind. To work hard. To chase our dreams. To push ourselves to be the best that we can be. The results may be up in the air, but that way, no one can ever accuse us of quitting, or not trying hard enough.
