Komal, an eight-year-old girl, hails from a small village in India. She lives at ‘Sapna’, an NGO (nonprofit organization) in India that provides living space, care and education for the underprivileged – those that have little to live on, and more importantly, even less hope.
Her name, Komal, means ‘delicate’ – true in every sense of the word. Her favorite color is red; she enjoys Hindi movies and wants to grow up to be a teacher. I know that these wonderful people, who do God’s work, will help make her dreams come true. That’s what ‘Sapna’ means – dreams! My wife and I have sponsored her care and education for the past 3 years, but this is not about us.
There are thousands of children the world over that could use our help. A few dollars a month can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these poverty stricken children – all they need is a chance, and some hope.
As you tuck your children in bed tonight, or nurse that fine wine, count your many blessings, and commit to paying it forward, in small measure. In some strange way, little Komal has had a greater impact on my life than she can ever imagine.
